The outline planning application by Persimmon Homes for the site adjacent to Lion Coppice.is available online from the Shropshire Council website. We are currently in the statutory 21 day period available for public comments before the Central Planning Committee will make a decision.
Persimmon Homes held a public consultation event at the Red Lion on 3 May 2011 during which they unveiled sketches of the proposed development. This showed houses directly against the coppice at the south end of the site.
Shropshire Council are the authority that will decide the fate of Lion Coppice and its surroundings. The Planning Committee meets monthly and all published information on planning applications is available from the online planning register.
The coppice itself is protected by a Tree Preservation Order, but this merely stops the woods from being cleared and does nothing to prevent disturbance to the wildlife that depends on it.
